Why does running make you happy?

“Once I have that new house, a loving partner or another job, I’m sure I will be happy.” We all have had moments that we thought external influences could make us happier. These things that exist outside ourselves, and lie outside of our control, might make us feel a bit better in the moment, but are not involved when it comes to true happiness. True happiness only comes from within, whether you look at it from a scientific perspective or more philosophical. When you do not feel happy at the moment, I hope you can find comfort knowing that happiness is within your reach.

Even though the website in only in Swedish, knowing the gorgeous area and loving the trails, I immediately get excited and sign up for the Insane 50k. The other options are the Classic 25k and Extreme 30K .”

Part 3 - Race day

“The trail starts uphill, an icy uphill this time which made for some great funny sights. I saw this guy running on the spot, while slowly starting to slide backwards. I passed him and thought to myself; this guy is not going to make it. I was convinced he would give up. When, after the race, he came up to me and ask if I saw him slide, I mentioned I saw him and had told everyone about him, not knowing who 'he' was. He was amused by the whole thing himself and then subtly mentioned he had finished the 50k race.”
